The SWS-250 measures Meteorological Optical Range and reports an extended set of present-weather conditions for airport and ATC use. It uses a 45-degree forward-scatter measurement with an 850nm infrared source and outputs WMO Table 4680 present-weather codes plus METAR-coded data. It is aimed at Runway Visual Range, aviation meteorology and offshore helicopter operations.
