Self-Propelled Universal Passenger Step EDU-WIDE
Wide-body capable self-propelled step serving every commercial aircraft door from B737 front sill to A340 rear sill.
The EDU-WIDE is EINSA's top-of-range self-propelled boarding step, engineered to cover the full wide-body door-sill envelope from 2.40 m (B737 front door) up to 5.80 m (A340 rear door). That upper reach means it can serve aircraft that the majority of the market's mid-range steps cannot — including A330, A340, B767, and B747 main-deck doors — making it the logical choice when an operator needs a single unit to handle every aircraft type in a diverse international fleet. The step is built around the same hydrostatic drive and hydraulic steering platform used across EINSA's self-propelled range, providing smooth infinitely variable speed control and tight-radius manoeuvrability on congested aprons. The 3-metre-wide access platform accommodates two passengers with hand luggage side by side, maintaining throughput with wide cabin doors. EINSA's proprietary patented side-sliding panels track the curvature of the fuselage as the step docks, eliminating the gap between step edge and aircraft skin — a distinctive safety and audit-compliance feature that differentiates the EDU-WIDE from conventional fixed-platform designs. White rubber bumpers on the platform front and side panels prevent paint transfer and fuselage marking. The unit can be specified with an open or fully enclosed operator cabin, a canopy for weather protection (important for GCC summer conditions), and an auto-follow system that compensates for aircraft settling during refuelling without requiring the operator to re-dock. Compliance with EN-12312-1 underpins airside acceptance at regulated airports worldwide.

Use cases.
- ›Wide-body turnarounds (A330, A340, B767, B747) at remote apron stands
- ›International hub operations requiring a single step to cover narrow-body and wide-body gates interchangeably
- ›VIP and state aircraft servicing where a wide, unobstructed platform is required
- ›Airline or ground-handler fleets seeking to reduce step type-count through universal coverage
- ›Military air-transport operations servicing cargo variants with high door sills
