The TA-12 sits in the mid-range of EINSA's TA-series tow tractor family, which spans from the TA-5 (5,000 lb drawbar pull) through to the TA-20 (20,000 lb), giving procurement teams a clear upgrade path as fleet mix or towing requirements change. The TA-12 delivers 12,000 lb (5,450 kg) drawbar pull — adequate for positioning medium-sized narrowbody aircraft (A319/A320, B737 classics) under their own power with a towbar, and effective for repositioning loaded GSE units around cargo ramps and maintenance bays. The drive architecture is hydrostatic transmission with four-wheel traction, eliminating gear-change shock loads that can transfer into aircraft nose-gear towbars and cause structural stress. Speed control is progressive down to millimetre-precise creep, which matters when manoeuvring in tight stand configurations or docking trailers. Hydraulic steering combined with a very small turning radius gives the TA-12 ramp agility unusual for a unit in this drawbar class. A four-circuit braking system addresses the primary safety concern when towing loads that substantially exceed the tractor's own weight. The rear tow hook is operable from inside the operator cabin — reducing the out-of-cab exposure that is a leading cause of ramp injuries during hitching. Optional equipment includes four-wheel steering for even tighter turning, inching control at the rear for solo hitching, an Oil Management System for automated fluid monitoring, and open or closed cabin with heating and air-conditioning. The TA-12 complies with EN-12312-15 and is suited to ramp environments where a versatile, compact tractor must handle aircraft, ground power units, passenger steps, and cargo dollies in sequence.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Aircraft positioning and pushback for A319/A320/B737 class aircraft using a towbar
  • Inter-stand repositioning of loaded ground power units, passenger steps, and cargo loaders
  • Maintenance bay manoeuvring where precise low-speed control is required
  • Industrial and dock environments with mixed towing tasks alongside aviation ramp work
  • Military airbase operations requiring a single tractor to serve aircraft and ancillary equipment positioning
