Ersel's BEL 7.5 and MOBEL 7.5 HD share the same 7.5-metre boom and 3.8-metre service height, with the fundamental distinction being how the unit reaches the aircraft: the BEL 7.5 is towed by a tugs vehicle and relies on it for stand positioning, while the MOBEL 7.5 HD is self-propelled on its own diesel drivetrain with hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic steering, manoeuvring independently to the hold door. At 7.5 m boom length and 3.8 m working height, both models can reach the cargo hold doors of narrow-body aircraft (A320, B737) and the lower-hold doors of mid-size wide-bodies such as the A330 and B787, making them more versatile than the shorter BEL 6.0 (3.0 m service height, narrow-body only). A 1,000 kg distributed load capacity and 400 kg maximum unit load rating on the belt are consistent with standard baggage and air-freight parcel weights. Dual-end hydraulic lift on the BEL 7.5 ensures the belt can be levelled at both the conveyor foot and the cargo door end, reducing manual handling strain and keeping bags moving continuously. The MOBEL 7.5 HD runs a Deutz D2011 L04i diesel producing 45.9 kW / 60 HP at 2,300 rpm, with a 60-litre fuel tank and a matching 60-litre hydraulic oil tank. Hydrostatic drive eliminates a conventional gearbox, improving low-speed manoeuvring precision on a tight ramp. A 195/70 R15 tyre footprint keeps apron pressure within standard ramp limits. For handlers choosing between the two variants, the self-propelled MOBEL typically makes economic sense at large-capacity stations where tug resources are constrained; the towable BEL suits operations where an existing tug pool has available capacity between aircraft turns.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Baggage and air-freight loading/unloading at narrow-body aircraft belly holds (A320, B737)
  • Lower-hold operations on mid-size wide-body aircraft (A330, B787) requiring the extended 3.8 m service height
  • High-throughput hub stations where the MOBEL 7.5 HD self-propels to reduce tug dependency
  • Secondary and regional stations using the towable BEL 7.5 within an existing tug fleet
  • Ground handlers standardising on a single belt-loader platform across mixed narrow/wide-body fleets
