PARA-Push Baggage Diverter
Heavy-duty pantograph push diverter providing a 100% full-sweep 90-degree baggage divert at up to 30 items per minute.
The PARA-Push is a single-axis push-style diverter designed for the most demanding divert applications in airport baggage handling and oversized conveyor lines. It uses a pantograph arm mechanism — a scissor-linkage driven by a 5-horsepower gear motor — to extend a padded face across the full width of a 45-inch (1,143 mm) conveyor belt in a complete sweep divert. Because the arm traverses the entire belt width rather than nudging items from the side, no upstream product alignment is required: bags can arrive anywhere across the belt face and be reliably diverted.
Motion control is handled by a variable frequency drive (VFD) that ramps the gear motor up to operating speed on receipt of an ethernet 'fire' signal, then ramps down as the arm returns to its home position — confirmed by a proximity switch. This controlled ramp profile protects fragile or soft-sided luggage from impact damage while maintaining the cycle rate. The system returns to ready position within two seconds of completing a divert, supporting a rated throughput of 30 items per minute for items up to 54.4 kg (120 lb).
For procurement engineers specifying baggage conveyor infrastructure, the PARA-Push occupies a distinct position from cross-belt or tilt-tray sorters: it is a line-side divert element, typically used to peel off items from a main conveyor into a lateral make-up area, oversize baggage staging zone, or recirculation loop. Its heavy-duty self-lubricating bearings and unidirectional gear motor operation translate to a published design life of more than 3 million cycles — roughly 5-7 years at continuous-operation airport throughput rates. The robust, relatively simple mechanical architecture is well suited to the high-humidity, dusty ramp environments common in GCC airports.

Use cases.
- ›Diverting checked baggage from main BHS conveyor into make-up carousel lanes
- ›Peeling oversize or flagged items into dedicated manual-processing or recirculation paths
- ›High-cycle push-divert applications in airport courier and express-freight facilities
- ›Integration into existing conveyor lines where upstream product alignment is unreliable
- ›Replacement of manual peel-off stations to reduce ramp staff physical load
