LED Airport Rotating Beacon (L-801A(L) Medium Intensity / L-802A(L) High Intensity)
ETL-certified LED airport rotating beacons producing 50,000 cd (L-801A) or 75,000 cd (L-802A) at 12 RPM, with a patented belt-drive and 50,000-hour LED lamp life that eliminates the lamp and gear-oil maintenance cycle.
Flight Light's L-801A(L) and L-802A(L) are LED-based rotating aerodrome beacons certified to FAA AC 150/5345-12F at medium and high intensity respectively and compliant with ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1 (Eighth Edition). Both models rotate at 12 RPM to produce 24 identifiable white-green flash pairs per minute — the standard recognition signal for a civil land airport. The L-801A(L) delivers a minimum of 50,000 effective candelas from +3° to +7° elevation, consuming 136 W (Class I) or 536 W (Class II). The L-802A(L) steps up to 75,000 effective candelas on 195 W (Class I) or 595 W (Class II) — representing a 65 and 75 percent reduction in power consumption versus the metal halide lamps they replace. The Class II rating extends the operating envelope to −55 °C, covering arctic and high-altitude sites; Class I covers the −30 °C to +55 °C band that covers all GCC and wider Middle East sites. A patented belt-drive eliminates the gear-oil lubrication requirement inherent to conventional gear-drive beacons: all moving parts are permanently lubricated at the factory, removing a recurring maintenance task. LED lamps are rated at 50,000 hours (approximately 12 years at continuous dusk-to-dawn operation), an order of magnitude improvement over the metal halide sources they replace. LEDs reach full brightness instantly with no warm-up delay — the beacon is serviceable the moment power is applied. The weatherproof powder-coated orange steel cabinet is tested to 100 mph winds; an optional stainless steel cabinet is available for coastal or corrosive environments. Multiple voltage variants (120 VAC / 220–240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz) enable deployment across FAA and international airport networks without transformer additions.
