The WCH Series wind cone gives pilots real-time wind direction and speed indication across the full intensity and mounting range required by FAA AC 150/5345-27F. The L-806 variant is frangible for airside locations where a vehicle strike must not create a secondary hazard; the L-807 is rigid and suits perimeter or non-movement-area placements. The FAA Size 1 basket (18-inch diameter × 8-foot sock) is fabricated as a one-piece welded aluminium structure finished in international orange powder coat. The orange sock is berry-compliant and rot/mildew-treated for long service life. Wind response is calibrated to begin moving freely at 3 knots and reach full extension at 15 knots, with wind-direction accuracy held to ±5 degrees — within ICAO and FAA tolerance bands. The pole is centre-hinged for single-technician installation. Lighting options span unlighted, external LED, and internal LED configurations drawing between 6 and 21 watts on 108–132 VAC, 207–253 VAC, or 11.5–13 VDC; LED lamp life is rated at 50,000–100,000 hours. An optional self-contained solar power supply with a 100–300 Ah AGM battery bank and 100 or 200 W panels eliminates underground cable runs entirely, with ten-day battery autonomy and MPPT charge control. For GCC installations the −55 °C to +55 °C operating range covers both winter cold at higher-altitude Gulf sites and the extreme summer heat of low-altitude coastal aprons. The marine-treatment option (marine powder coat and stainless steel hardware) is specified for any installation within 100 miles of the sea — relevant across the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar coast routes.
