Queen Alia International Airport Terminal (Amman)

Shaded modular tessellated-roof terminal for Amman.

Foster + Partners designed the new passenger terminal at Queen Alia International serving Amman, Jordan. The tessellated domed concrete roof creates a shaded, column-free concourse tuned to the regional climate. Phase 1 opened in March 2013 for 9 million passengers per year, with a modular design to scale to 12 mppa in Phase 2. The project is widely cited as a reference for climate-responsive, modular terminal architecture in the Middle East.
