EGA180
180 kVA zero-emission battery GPU providing clean, high-capacity 400 Hz power for wide-body aircraft without diesel exhaust.
The Guinault EGA180 extends the electric GPU concept to the 180 kVA class, covering the ground power requirements of wide-body aircraft — including the B777 and A330 — without any diesel combustion on the apron. It is the direct electric equivalent of the GA180 and shares the same aircraft interface, so airlines transitioning from diesel-based wide-body GPU fleets can replace units without modifying aircraft servicing procedures. The EGA180 uses the same modular LFP battery architecture as the EGA90, with capacity options of 55, 110, or 165 kWh configurable at the time of order or field-upgraded by adding battery packs. LFP chemistry is the deliberate choice here: at the power density and cycling frequency of a busy wide-body gate, thermal stability and cycle life matter more than the marginal energy density advantage of NMC. Guinault's solid-state 400 Hz converter — the same technology base the company has applied to frequency conversion since its establishment in 1949 — delivers clean, stable output voltage at aircraft bus tolerances. The unit is rated from −30 °C to +55 °C, meaning it handles Gulf-summer ambient temperatures, including the thermal load of a black-top apron in direct sun, without de-rating. At 3,460 × 2,130 × 1,680 mm and up to 4,300 kg (fully loaded with three battery packs), the EGA180 is a substantial piece of equipment but remains mobile and manoeuvrable. WiFi, GSM, and GPS telematics provide the same remote fleet monitoring as the diesel counterpart. For airports pursuing electrification roadmaps on wide-body stands, the EGA180 addresses the gap where smaller eGPUs simply cannot meet the sustained current demand of a twin-aisle aircraft during a full turn.
