Wave seating system
Fabric-free, all-polyurethane beam seating with high hygiene resistance and clean contemporary lines, designed for reconfiguration and intensive cleaning regimes.
The Wave is IMAT's most hygiene-forward passenger beam seating system, distinguished by a complete absence of fabric or textile components. Seat and backrest cushions are formed entirely from self-coloured injected polyurethane — a material specification that directly addresses the cleaning intensity and infection-control demands of high-throughput airports, where wet-mopping, disinfectant spraying, and pressure-cleaning cycles are routine. No upholstery means no fibre saturation, no colour-fade from chemical cleaners, and no hiding places for debris in seams.
The system comes in two variants: the standard Wave (30 mm polyurethane cushions with standard seat-back integration) and Wave MTL (the metallic version, offering the same configuration range with a steel-mesh interpretation for zones requiring maximum impact resistance). Both variants share the same modular base system — Arco, Compas, and Fuego base types support single rows, back-to-back islands, and wall-mounted runs. The beam structure accepts in-beam power boxes, multiple table surface types, and the full armrest range.
Ergonomically, the seat and backrest contours are mapped to natural body form to sustain comfort over extended periods — relevant in international transfer areas where passengers may occupy the same seat for two or more hours. The modular architecture allows on-site reconfiguration if gate capacity changes: individual components can be substituted in place without specialist tools or factory return. For GCC terminals operating under extreme ambient temperatures, the all-metal and polyurethane material set is not subject to UV degradation or humidity-driven fabric failure.

Use cases.
- ›High-frequency international terminals operating intensive daily cleaning and disinfection protocols
- ›Transfer areas and transit hotels where cleaning teams use wet or chemical methods incompatible with fabric seating
- ›Outdoor or semi-outdoor waiting areas (pier aprons, covered bus-gates) where UV and humidity exposure would degrade upholstered alternatives
- ›Security-hold and border-control waiting areas requiring maximum hygiene and impact resistance
- ›Reconfigurable gate furniture programmes where terminal capacity reallocation occurs seasonally
