PAXWAY A380-Compatible Model

The PAXWAY A380-Compatible Model is a high-reach passenger boarding bridge purpose-engineered for the Airbus A380, the largest commercial airliner in regular passenger service. The A380 requires bridges capable of reaching its second-floor main-deck door at an elevated position, which conventional single-arm PBBs cannot achieve. ShinMaywa was the first manufacturer in the world to develop a PBB specifically for the A380, incorporating a double-arm configuration and a unique upper-deck preset-drive routine that automatically positions the bridge at the correct height and angle relative to the second-floor door opening.

A dedicated anti-collision function is standard: at gates where two bridges dock simultaneously (one per door position on wide-body aircraft), the system continuously monitors inter-bridge distance and prevents contact regardless of individual arm extension or rotation angle.
