CTX 5800
Compact CT explosives detection system for hold baggage at space-constrained or regional airports.
The CTX 5800 is a compact computed tomography explosives detection system designed for hold baggage and air cargo screening where available floor area, ceiling height, or conveyor integration budget constrains the deployment of full-size inline EDS. Despite its smaller footprint, the system uses the same CT-based explosive detection approach as the larger CTX 9800 DSi — generating 3D density reconstructions that underpin certified automatic threat detection rather than operator-interpreted 2D images.
The 750 mm tunnel diameter accommodates standard suitcase dimensions. Throughput is rated at up to 450 bags per hour, which aligns with the peak demand profile of regional airports, secondary terminals, and cargo facilities rather than primary international hub conveyors. Belt speed is 0.14 m/s and the conveyor height of 616 mm is compatible with compact baggage-hall conveyor designs.
Certifications cover ECAC EDS Standard 3, TSA, CAAC, and IPMO — a wider certification footprint than many compact EDS alternatives, which matters for operators at airports subject to multi-authority oversight or anticipating future regulatory changes. The single X-ray generator dual-energy design keeps the system self-contained for facilities without the infrastructure to support multi-generator systems.
For GCC regional airports — including secondary terminals in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman — and for cargo acceptance facilities that need certified EDS without the conveyor infrastructure of an inline HBS system, the CTX 5800 provides an on-the-floor standalone solution that satisfies the same ECAC Standard 3 obligation as larger inline systems.

Use cases.
- ›Hold baggage EDS at regional and secondary-terminal airports
- ›Standalone off-conveyor screening at cargo acceptance counters
- ›Airports with space or infrastructure constraints preventing inline HBS
- ›Air cargo facilities requiring certified EDS without full conveyor integration
- ›Supplementary EDS capacity during peak periods or terminal expansion phases
