CTX 9800 DSi
High-speed CT explosives detection system built for inline hold baggage screening at hub airports.
The CTX 9800 DSi is a computed tomography explosives detection system (EDS) designed to operate inline within hold baggage screening (HBS) conveyors at high-throughput airports. It uses CT scanning to build a three-dimensional density map of each bag, enabling automatic detection of explosive materials at the algorithm level without manual image review for every item, and achieves this at throughput rates compatible with hub airport conveyor speeds.
The system sits at the high-capacity end of the CTX hold-baggage range. Its 1,020 mm-diameter tunnel handles oversize bags that would jam mid-range systems, and the selectable belt speed (0.2, 0.3, or 0.5 m/s) allows airport engineers to tune throughput against detection sensitivity requirements. Throughput reaches 1,800 bags per hour at maximum belt speed.
Certifications include ECAC EDS Standard 3, ECAC EDS Standard 3.1, TSA certification, and CAAC certification — the three approval bodies that govern market access across Europe, North America, and China respectively. This breadth of certification makes the CTX 9800 DSi a default specification for greenfield airport HBS projects where multi-regulatory compliance is required from day one.
In operating context, the system is engineered for the continuous-duty demands of large HBS conveyors: peak periods at a hub airport can sustain 1,200–1,800 bags per hour for several consecutive hours. The CTX 9800 DSi is designed for this regime, with conveyor geometry compatible with standard HBS integration interfaces.
