HI-SCAN 10080 XCT
ECAC EDS Standard 3-approved CT explosives detection system for large tunnel hold baggage and air cargo screening.
The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT in the security-screening product category is the same CT explosives detection system as its baggage-handling system counterpart but procured and deployed as a standalone or semi-integrated unit rather than a full inline HBS conveyor integration. This mode of deployment is common in air cargo screening operations, smaller airports where a full conveyor system is absent, and as a standalone Level 2 or Level 3 resolution unit positioned alongside an automated HBS line.
The CT gantry produces full 3D volumetric images of every item, enabling the automatic detection algorithm to assess explosive threats based on material density and geometry rather than 2D projection shadows. The 1,070 mm × 810 mm tunnel and 100% X-ray duty cycle at 0.5 m/s belt speed mean the system can operate continuously at 1,800 items per hour without throughput degradation.
ECAC EDS Standard 3.0 and 3.1 approvals, combined with TSA laboratory certification for high-speed checked baggage and ACSTL approval for air cargo, give the system the broadest certification coverage in the Smiths Detection 10080-tunnel class. The out-of-gauge version handles items up to 3,800 mm long.
For air cargo operators, the TSA ACSTL listing is the critical credential: it is a prerequisite for using the system as the primary screening method for US-bound air cargo under TSA's Certified Cargo Screening Program. For GCC airlines operating US routes — Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, and others — ACSTL-listed equipment is a compliance requirement, not just a preference.
