HI-SCAN 6040-2is HR
Dual-view high-resolution X-ray checkpoint scanner that was the first in the world to achieve LEDS Standard 3 certification.
The HI-SCAN 6040-2is HR is an advanced dual-view, dual-energy X-ray system for airport checkpoint cabin baggage screening. Two X-ray sources illuminate the bag from different angles simultaneously, producing a side view and a top view in a single pass. Operators receive both images on screen simultaneously, eliminating the need to re-scan or manually reposition bags to inspect areas obscured in one projection.
The HR designation indicates the high-resolution sensor variant: standard wire detectability is 40 AWG (0.08 mm) and typical detection reaches 41 AWG (0.07 mm), enabling the system to resolve fine wire detonators and small electronic components that lower-resolution dual-view systems may miss. Steel penetration is 35 mm.
The system holds ECAC EDS CB C1 certification for checked cabin baggage and is approved for LEDS Standard 2 and Standard 3 Type C for liquid explosives detection — it was the first dual-view X-ray scanner in the world to achieve the LEDS Standard 3 rating, a significant regulatory milestone for airports required to screen liquids without a separate dedicated LEDS lane.
The 6040-2is HR is positioned between the entry-level 6040 DV and the CT-based 6040 CTiX: it delivers dual-view capability and LEDS Standard 3 at a lower acquisition and infrastructure cost than CT, while providing meaningfully higher assurance than standard dual-view. The under-850 kg weight and 900 mm doorway clearance simplify installation in existing terminal buildings.
For GCC checkpoints implementing LEDS regulations — which are tightening across EU and ECAC-aligned jurisdictions — the 6040-2is HR allows liquid screening compliance on the primary lane without additional equipment.

Use cases.
- ›Airport checkpoint cabin baggage screening with liquid explosives detection on the primary lane
- ›Compliance with LEDS Standard 3 without a dedicated separate LEDS system
- ›High-security government and embassy entry checkpoints
- ›Space-constrained terminals requiring a sub-850 kg scanner
- ›Retrofit into existing single-view lane footprints as a dual-view upgrade
