HI-SCAN 6040 DV

The HI-SCAN 6040 DV is a dual-view, dual-energy X-ray inspection system for airport passenger checkpoint screening. It produces simultaneous side-view and top-view X-ray images of cabin baggage in a single pass, allowing operators to identify threats concealed behind dense objects without manual bag reorientation. The automatic detection algorithms include EDS CB C1 for explosive threat detection and LEDS Standard 2 Type C for liquid explosives, both running as background automatic detections rather than operator-dependent searches.

An optional iCMORE AI-based weapons module adds automatic detection of pistols, revolvers, gun parts, flick knives, and fixed blade knives — a capability increasingly required by high-security client specifications and by national security authorities responding to evolving threat intelligence. iCMORE can be licensed post-purchase as a software upgrade, future-proofing the hardware investment.

The system integrates with Smiths Detection's Checkpoint.Evoplus management platform, enabling centralised operational data collection, health-status monitoring, and remote screening support across multi-lane checkpoint environments. Cybersecurity is addressed at system level with operating-system hardening, a host-based firewall, TripWire integrity monitoring, and configurable password policies.

At approximately 820 kg, the 6040 DV is suited to retrofit and new-build checkpoints. It sits one step below the CT-based 6040 CTiX in the portfolio — providing ECAC EDS CB C1 and LEDS Standard 2 compliance at lower cost and footprint, without the laptop-removal waiver that CT delivers.
