The TUG 660 is Textron GSE's current-generation belt loader, sold under the TUG brand with four driveline options: Samsung SDI lithium, 80 V lead-acid electric, Ford 2.5 L gas/LPG and Deutz D2.9 L Tier 4F diesel. The lithium configuration - launched in October 2021 as the TUG 660 Li - is the headline electric option, pairing an AC drive system with regenerative braking that returns energy to the pack every time the brakes are applied.

In lithium form the loader carries an 80-96 V battery at 200-300 Ah, supervised by a battery management system that continuously monitors pack health and eliminates routine battery maintenance. Opportunity charging recovers meaningful energy during short breaks between turnarounds, and Textron quotes faster charging and lower grid draw than comparable lead-acid units. Traction comes from a 7.8 kW AC drive motor, with a separate 5.8 kW motor driving the 80 V electric hydraulic pump for the conveyor and boom.

The conveyor is 7,468 mm (294 in) long with a 610 mm (24 in) belt, runs at 13.7-27.4 m/min (45-90 fpm) and carries up to 907 kg (2,000 lb). Two hydraulic cylinders raise and lower both ends of the boom, and belt movement is electronically controlled via hydraulic motor. The heavy-duty welded-steel chassis runs four-wheel disc brakes, a Newage 216-series limited-slip drive axle and hydrostatic steering; top speed is 24.1 km/h (15 mph) and electric versions weigh 7,300-7,700 lb. Multi-position e-stops sit along the conveyor length, with optional Smart Sense anti-collision technology.

For Gulf ground handlers the 660's value is fleet flexibility: one platform and one parts inventory, specified lithium where hub electrification mandates apply and gas or diesel where charging infrastructure is not yet in place. Electric AC and lithium versions are CE certified, and the loader serves bulk holds across a wide range of narrowbody and widebody aircraft.
