Swedish-founded Axis Communications is the company that effectively invented the networked IP camera in 1996 and has since been acquired by Canon. Its cameras, encoders and analytics platforms — including AXIS Q and P series PTZ and fixed cameras and the AXIS Camera Station and AXIS Object Analytics software — are standard equipment for airport perimeter, terminal and apron surveillance. Axis is ONVIF-compliant, which makes it the default backbone for many airport VSS designs integrated with Milestone, Genetec and Nx Witness management platforms.
