General Atomics is a major US defence and energy technology corporation headquartered in San Diego, California. Through its subsidiary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI), it is a primary manufacturer of the MQ-9A Reaper and MQ-9B SkyGuardian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by the US military, foreign militaries, and coalition forces. General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) develops electromagnetic launch and recovery systems (EMALS), missile defence systems, directed energy weapons, space payloads, and satellite communication terminals. In early 2026, GA-ASI was selected for the US Air Force CCA (Collaborative Combat Aircraft) programme to develop the YFQ-42, partnered with Rafael for a precision-guided missile, and was selected for the US Navy's Collaborative Autonomy Mission Planning project. GA-EMS was selected for Phase 3 of the US Space Force Enterprise Space Terminal programme. General Atomics also operates the DIII-D National Fusion Facility and has a European subsidiary (GA-Europe GmbH).
