The DABICO FMT Dual Boarding Bridge System pairs two or three Mobile Telescopic Bridges at a single gate stand and coordinates them through an advanced electronic anti-collision system that prevents the bridges from entering each other's operating envelope during simultaneous movement. It is FMT's answer to Multi Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) stands and high-capacity widebody gates where more than one bridge must approach the aircraft in parallel.

On a dual-bridge stand, one bridge typically serves Door 1L (forward) while a second serves Door 2L (mid-fuselage) — common on A330, B777, and A350 operations. On a three-bridge configuration, a third unit may serve Door 3L or a premium-cabin door, enabling complete segregation of cabin zones during boarding. The electronic anti-collision system monitors the position, heading, and reach of each bridge continuously and enforces spatial exclusion zones in real time, removing the collision-avoidance burden from the individual drivers.

The operator interface is designed for low cognitive load: the HMI is intentionally simple so that ramp staff can manage a multi-bridge stand without extended type training. Seamless integration with FMT's APIS/A-VDGS docking guidance layer enables semi-automatic coordinated approach sequences across all bridges at the stand simultaneously.

For GCC hub airports managing dense A330/B777/A350 rotation schedules with tight connection windows, the Dual Boarding Bridge System is the infrastructure underpinning rapid parallel boarding — a direct enabler of the sub-30-minute widebody turns that maximise gate throughput.

Best for

Use cases.

  • MARS (Multi Aircraft Ramp System) stands requiring simultaneous dual-aircraft or dual-door bridge movement
  • Widebody gates (A330, B777, A350) where forward and mid-cabin doors must be served in parallel
  • Hub airports targeting sub-30-minute widebody turnarounds through faster parallel boarding
  • Three-bridge premium segregation: separate boarding flows for first, business, and economy cabins
  • New-build terminal piers being planned for high-capacity A350/B777X operations
