ReDrone is a multi-sensor, multi-mission counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) developed by Elbit Systems' ISTAR & EW division (Elisra). It combines passive RF detection and direction finding, X-Band AESA radar, EO/IR optical tracking, and an RF jammer into a single unified command-and-control picture, allowing an operator to detect, classify, track, and neutralise drone threats without relying on any single sensor modality.

The system addresses the full civilian threat envelope: commercial quadcopters, fixed-wing hobby platforms, and small tactical UAVs operating on 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, 900 MHz, and proprietary protocols such as DJI Lightbridge and OcuSync. Soft-kill countermeasures jam RC links and GNSS navigation simultaneously; drone take-over (force-to-land) is also supported for scenarios where signal-denial alone is insufficient.

ReDrone is sized for permanent perimeter defence of critical infrastructure: airports, seaports, prison facilities, strategic government sites, and military bases. It installs in under 20 minutes by a single operator and scales from a portable transportable unit up to a fully fixed installation with 360° coverage rings. The open architecture supports SAPIENT and ASTRIX standard protocols for integration into wider airspace management and security operations centres — directly relevant to GCC airports expanding their airside security posture under ICAO Annex 17 requirements. A $60 million NATO-country contract awarded in early 2025 confirms operational maturity at national-infrastructure scale.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Airport perimeter and airside drone exclusion — permanent fixed installation covering runways, taxiways, and terminal rooflines
  • Seaport and critical infrastructure protection requiring continuous 24/7 unattended monitoring
  • Government and public-event security where crowd-density makes hard-kill countermeasures unsuitable
  • Military base and border perimeter defence requiring simultaneous multi-target engagement
  • Integration into national airspace security operations centres via SAPIENT/ASTRIX open protocols
  • Convoy and VIP motorcade protection in the vehicular-mount configuration
