The EAR-CH-50/50 is a dedicated bench-top battery charger-discharger for aviation battery maintenance — specifically the periodic charge, discharge, and capacity verification cycles that are a mandatory part of every aircraft battery's maintenance programme under JAR, EASA Part-145, and equivalent MRO standards. It operates from a standard single-phase 230 V supply and handles charge currents from 0.1 to 50 A and discharge currents from 0.1 to 50 A across a voltage range of 0.7 to 48 V, covering the main battery types used in commercial and general aviation: sealed and open lead-acid, Ni-Cd (including VARTA and Saft NiCd aviation variants such as the 20KSX and 20NKBN families), and Li-ion. A precision measurement module monitors voltage and temperature at every individual cell within the battery, not just at the terminals — a critical capability for detecting degraded cells that would not be identified by a terminal-only measurement. The unit stores the complete maintenance history of each battery across multiple charge-discharge cycles, and a built-in thermal printer produces paper records to support maintenance documentation. Up to 100 custom battery programs can be stored, allowing a single unit to serve an MRO shop with diverse battery types without manual parameter reconfiguration for each type. Physical dimensions (515×485×185 mm, 30 kg) make it bench-deployable in an avionics workshop. Protection is IP20, appropriate for controlled indoor workshop use. For procurement at an MRO facility, the EAR-CH-50/50 replaces multiple single-type chargers with a single programmable platform.
