The EAPIT standard pit system is the established approach to delivering multiple aircraft services at a contact stand without mobile equipment crowding the gate area. A counterweight-balanced hatch opens flush with the apron pavement to reveal an underground concrete chamber containing distribution boxes for 400 Hz aircraft power, 50/60 Hz utility power, and 28.5 VDC, with provision for PCA long-hose connections, potable water, blue water, and compressed air in fully specified builds. The hatch lid is engineered to EN 124 F900 classification, supporting loads up to 90 tonnes — covering all standard aircraft and heavy ground vehicles — with a corrugated surface that prevents slipping by aircraft wheels and vehicle tyres, and spark-resistant materials to eliminate ignition risk from metal-on-metal contact. The EAPIT arrives from the factory pre-assembled to the maximum practical extent, reducing installation time and site connection complexity: the concrete chamber is customer-supplied to ElectroAir's specification, and the unit drops in. Remote control capability and manhole access are available options for operators requiring centrally managed stand monitoring. ElectroAir explicitly recommends pairing EAPIT systems with ElectroAir GPUs, noting that the combined solution allows the GPU to be located remote from the pit position — relevant where apron real estate near the gate is constrained. The EAPIT is appropriate for new-build terminal projects and for stand upgrade programmes replacing mobile GPU arrangements with permanent, clean infrastructure.
