Flexnet Gateway-S Short-Range Base Station
Compact short-range Flexnet base station for autonomous, silent-mode sensor deployments on shorter missions.
The Gateway-S is the compact, lightweight base station of the Flexnet UGS system. It communicates with any deployed Flexnet sensors and cameras in the mesh network within a 1 km range using its 0.5 W short-range radio, and can be configured in two modes: base station or mobile base. Crucially for covert work, it can be deployed as a fully autonomous base without being connected to a computer. Because the Gateway-S stores data from the deployed sensors and cameras, a sensor field can be left unattended for weeks: in silent mode, alarms and images are held encrypted in the unit until the operator retrieves them, keeping the network's electromagnetic footprint minimal. When live backhaul is wanted, it connects to 3G/4G modems, satellite communication or other backbone networks over TCP/IP for remote communication and control. The internal battery gives 5 days of operation, extendable with an external battery, and the unit offers GPS self-localisation, anti-tamper functionality and AES-256 encryption throughout. It measures 106 x 40 x 175 mm, operates from -32 to +71 degrees C and is qualified to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461. Its size makes it ideal for shorter missions: rapid perimeter deployments at temporary sites, event security, expeditionary reconnaissance and quick-reaction border taskings.
