The Mini Mk3 is Exensor's core seismic and acoustic unattended ground sensor for the Flexnet system, providing 360-degree detection and classification of human activity and vehicle movements. The node senses ground vibrations and sound waves in its area of interest and runs advanced on-board detection and classification algorithms with data fusion, so only qualified alarm data is transmitted over the network rather than raw signal - filtering out unwanted alarms and supporting multiple simultaneous alarm classifications. Continuous background noise estimation, automatic prediction of detection range and a selectable local/extended range mode let the sensor adapt to the ground conditions where it is emplaced. At 0.5 kg and 115 x 54 x 100 mm (without ground spike), the Mini Mk3 is designed to reduce operator burden where weight and size are critical: hand-emplaced in seconds and effectively invisible once buried or concealed. It carries an integrated 1 km mesh-networked radio, so each deployed node also acts as a relay for other Flexnet sensors (Mini/Scout/PIR) in the self-healing mesh, an internal GPS receiver for automatic self-localisation on the C2 map, built-in anti-tamper with GPS, and AES-256 encrypted communications. If radio-silence mode is activated or communication is interrupted, alarm data is stored within the device until requested by an operator or the link is re-established. The integrated rechargeable battery gives 30 days of operation, with a 1-year battery available as an option for long-duration covert deployments. It is qualified to MIL-STD-810 environmental and MIL-STD-461 EMC standards and operates from -32 to +71 degrees C. Typical applications are covert perimeter and approach monitoring at airports and critical infrastructure, border surveillance, route monitoring and expeditionary force protection, cueing Flexnet cameras such as the Scout Mk3 for visual identification of the alarm source.
