Scout Mk3 Intelligent Motion Camera
Day/night intelligent motion camera node with thermal and low-light heads for visual identification of UGS alarms.
The Scout Mk3 is the intelligent motion camera of the Flexnet UGS system, providing day and night, high-quality pictures and video for visual classification and identification of targets detected by the network. A single Scout Mk3 can control two camera heads, which can be delivered with thermal imaging (TI) sensors or low-light sensors and lens options from 7 to 65 mm (zoom, narrow or wide angle) - so one node can cover two directions or pair a thermal head with an optical one. Camera heads attach directly to the camera body or are mounted remotely and connected via cable. The built-in image processing detects motion in user-defined areas of interest and activates the camera; before, during and after an event it can take single or multiple images. Imagery is compressed with advanced compression technology for fast transmission over the low-bandwidth mesh, and is either transmitted to the base station over AES-256 encrypted communication or stored on board - the node holds several thousand images. The Scout Mk3 is also activated by other Flexnet sensors over the radio network, or by a PIR module attached via cable, running an operator-configured motion-control sequence after activation. Each unit operates as a node in the self-healing mesh, relaying data from other UGS (Mini/Scout/PIR), with GPS self-location and built-in anti-tamper protection. The 19 mm single-head unit measures 62 x 62 x 210 mm and weighs 1.3 kg; the 19 mm dual-head version is 62 x 69 x 220 mm and 1.5 kg. The integrated rechargeable battery gives 30 days of operation with a 1-year battery option, and the camera is qualified to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, operating from -32 to +71 degrees C. Applications include visual verification on airport and critical-infrastructure perimeters, border surveillance and covert reconnaissance.
