Scout X High-Performance Imaging Platform
45 MP Nikon Z9-based covert imaging node with 4K video and up to 300x virtual PTZ zoom on the Flexnet network.
The Scout X is a high-performance, versatile and fully customizable image and video platform for the Flexnet UGS system - the imaging tool for the advanced and demanding Flexnet user, built for long-range remote surveillance and detection in dead ground. Its core release comes with a Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera delivering 45-megapixel stills and 4K video; the OEM describes the Z9's low-light performance as among the best in the world for its camera class, and the platform operates with any lens the Z9 supports, giving an extended selection of lens options. Because full-resolution images are captured and stored at the node, the operator gets a virtual pan/tilt/zoom capability with a zoom factor comparable to 300x versus the Flexnet preview image, extracting fine detail from a wide scene after the fact. The operator can also remotely control the Z9's capture functions - start, stop and recording. The Scout X is activated by other sensors over the radio network or by a PIR module attached via cable, after which a pre-set motion-control sequence runs for an operator-configured time. Built-in image processing detects motion in user-defined areas of interest and triggers capture; before, during and after an event the camera can take single or multiple images. High-resolution imagery is stored locally (several thousand images and videos), then compressed to small previews and transmitted to the base station over AES-256 encrypted, low-bandwidth mesh links using advanced compression. On-demand adaptations extend the platform beyond the Z9: support for any 3G-SDI camera up to 1080p60 and quick integration of USB or SDI cameras controllable through USB or UART. The control unit measures 190 x 90 x 60 mm and weighs 1.3 kg excluding the Z9. The integrated rechargeable battery supports 20 days of operation on the standard duty cycle (one 30-second wake-up per hour), extendable to 30+ days with an external battery. Qualified to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, it operates from -32 to +71 degrees C. Applications include long-range identification on borders and critical-infrastructure perimeters and evidence-grade covert surveillance imagery.
