Lantal's Deep Dyed aviation carpet programme is built around a proprietary digital dyeing process that saturates colour through the full depth of the pile rather than applying dye at the surface. The technology was developed in collaboration with design consultancy PriestmanGoode and won the Crystal Cabin Award in the Sustainable Cabin category in 2023 and the Swiss Technology Award in the Industry Innovation category the same year. The carpet is available in two base constructions: a 100% regenerated polyamide pile sourced from reclaimed ocean fishing nets, and a 100% wool construction for carriers specifying natural fibre. The regenerated polyamide route reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 40%, water consumption by roughly 60%, and production waste by around 80% compared to conventional dyeing methods, based on Lantal's lifecycle assessment conducted with Zuehlke. Both constructions carry Airbus and Boeing type approvals and are in active service with more than 30 airlines globally. A self-adhesive backing option is offered as a separate coating that accelerates carpet fitting during aircraft turnaround and simplifies section replacement at line maintenance level — relevant for high-frequency short-haul fleets where carpet changeover speed affects aircraft-on-ground time. The complete supply chain runs in-house in Switzerland: yarn spinning in Huttwil, weaving and dyeing in Melchnau. This integration enables a 15-business-day lead time from design approval to delivered carpet, compared to the industry-standard minimum of several weeks when prototyping through traditional multi-supplier chains. A Sample Factory demonstration concept allows airline design teams to review actual woven samples with custom colours and patterns before committing to a full cabin order.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Full-aircraft recarpeting programmes requiring both Airbus and Boeing type-approved materials from a single supplier
  • Airline cabin refresh projects with tight turnaround schedules, leveraging the 15-business-day delivery window
  • Sustainability-mandated procurement where verified CO2 and water savings are required as supply-chain credentials
  • Short-haul high-rotation fleets where self-adhesive backing reduces carpet-fitting time during line-maintenance cycles
  • New livery launches requiring rapid physical sampling of custom colours and patterns before full production commitment
