Lantal's seat cover and upholstery fabric range covers the principal constructions used in commercial aircraft cabins: a traditional wool/polyamide woven blend, a synthetic-free wool/viscose biodegradable option under the Climatex Lifeguard FR name, and a range of performance velvets and structured weaves for premium class applications. The standard wool-blend construction follows the industry-established formula in which wool accounts for 89–95% of fibre content. Wool's natural Limiting Oxygen Index of approximately 25 — above the ambient oxygen concentration needed for sustained combustion — is the primary mechanism by which these fabrics meet FAR/CS 25.853 flammability requirements without chemical flame-retardant finishes. The polyamide component, typically present in warp yarns, reduces loom break rates and adds tensile durability to the face of the cloth. The Climatex Lifeguard FR variant substitutes the polyamide fraction with Lenzing FR viscose derived from beech wood cellulose. The resulting fabric is inherently biodegradable, has received Cradle-to-Cradle Gold certification, and has a published service life of up to three years in commercial service. Its moisture-management performance — absorbing and re-releasing humidity — makes it a practical choice for long-haul economy and premium economy cabins where passenger thermal comfort over eight-plus-hour sectors is a differentiator. All fabrics are produced at Lantal's weaving and finishing facility in Melchnau, Switzerland, and supplied as yardage for cut-and-sew operations at seat OEMs or MRO interior shops. Design customisation — yarn colour selection, weave structure, pattern density — is available to support airline livery briefs.
