Lantal's upholstery leather programme covers two distinct material types that address the two main demand segments in premium cabin seating: genuine full-grain hides for First Class and Business Class environments where tactile quality is part of the cabin proposition, and TEC-Leather — Lantal's proprietary aviation-grade synthetic — for operators who need leather aesthetics combined with lower maintenance burden and lighter weight. The genuine leather range comprises three quality grades available in 48 standard colours, all certified to airworthiness requirements. Full-grain hides are selected and graded for uniformity of surface texture and colour consistency, which is significant in wide-cabin programmes where lateral seat banks require matched panels across multiple hides. TEC-Leather is a purpose-developed artificial leather with a published weight of approximately 1 kg per square metre. It is compliant with FAR 25.853 for aviation, and does not require a separate fireblocking layer beneath the cover — a construction simplification that reduces total seat-cover assembly weight. The material is phthalate-free and non-cytotoxic, meeting REACH-relevant health requirements. Stain and oil resistance is inherent to the surface structure: cleaning is performed with water or an alcohol-based solution without risk of surface degradation. The material is also breathable, which limits heat build-up on contact surfaces — a performance factor in high-ambient-temperature environments including GCC hub airports where cabin temperatures during ground turnaround can be elevated. Both products are manufactured to deliver consistent batch colour and surface characteristics across large-fleet cabin refurbishment programmes.
