The de-icing/anti-icing function (on the RS-500) removes snow and ice as the aircraft passes under stationary overhead traverses using Type I de-ice fluid and water, with under-flushing available to clear slush from the underside, undercarriage and wheel wells. An inspection and quality-assurance cycle then visually verifies the result and can be repeated until contaminants are removed, after which Type II anti-icing fluid is applied to wings, stabilisers and fuselage roof on exit. The full process is completed in minutes and is compliant with SAE regulations.
