RS 100 "Canuck" Runway Sweeper

The RS 100 Performance Line 'Canuck' is Øveraasen's entry-level and lowest-footprint runway sweeper: a towed unit designed to couple to any standard tractor or light truck hitch rather than operating on its own dedicated chassis. By drawing propulsion from the tow vehicle, the Canuck keeps platform cost and maintenance complexity well below that of the self-propelled RS 200 and RSC 250, while using the same core brush, blower, and control components developed for the wider RS family. The dedicated Volvo TAD583VE engine (EU Stage V / EPA Tier 4f, 175 kW / 240 HP) drives both the blower and the brush system, independent of the tow vehicle's power take-off. Brush diameter is 935 mm at up to 900 rpm with automatic adjustment for wear and operating speed; the 100 m/s blowing speed and 25,000 m³/h blower capacity sit below the RS 200 figures but are proportionate to the narrower 4,000 mm clearing width. Working speed is limited to 40 km/h — the ceiling imposed by the towed configuration — giving a clearing capacity of 160,000 m²/h. The RS 100's 8,000 mm length and 2,580 mm transport width (without brush) make it easy to store and manoeuvre through gate areas. The biofuel-capable engine and EU Stage V compliance reflect Øveraasen's 'sustainable alternative for the future' positioning for this model. It is well suited to general aviation terminals, cargo aprons, training airports, and as a third machine in fleets where the RS 200 or RS 400 covers the main runway and the Canuck handles secondary surfaces, runway lights, and blast-pad maintenance.
