Senstar OmniTrax
Covert buried coaxial-cable intrusion detection with +/-1 m localisation over 800 m per processor
OmniTrax is Senstar's covert buried-cable perimeter intrusion detection sensor. Ported ('leaky') coaxial sensor cables buried in the ground create an invisible volumetric electromagnetic detection field, typically 1 m high and 3 m wide, that follows the terrain. Apertures in the transmit cable let RF energy couple to the parallel receive cable; a patented coded-pulse algorithm detects and locates intruders crossing the field to within +/-1 m over up to 800 m per processor, including multiple simultaneous intrusions, with up to 50 software-defined zones. Detection is based on an intruder's conductivity, size and speed: probability of detection for an upright 35 kg intruder moving between 5 cm/s and 8 m/s exceeds 99% (95% confidence), while objects under 10 kg are rejected at 95% confidence. Any attempt to tamper with the cables, processor or enclosure raises an alarm. Because the field is underground and invisible, OmniTrax offers the lowest vulnerability-to-defeat of any outdoor perimeter sensor and leaves site aesthetics unchanged. Operation is unaffected by vegetation and insensitive to wind, rain, snow, hail, sandstorms, fog, extreme temperatures, seismic vibration, acoustics and blowing debris, from -40 to +70 deg C - directly relevant to GCC desert and coastal sites. Cables direct-bury in most soils (23 cm deep), asphalt or concrete (6 cm slots) and carry both power and data with bidirectional redundancy after a cut; up to five processors can share one power supply. Two cable families cover different layouts: OC2 (300/400 m runs) and SC2 (50-200 m, narrow single-trench spacing). Calibration is by walk-test with Senstar's Windows-based UCM software, which levels sensitivity per meter and compensates for site variations. Alarms report via four on-board Form C relays or over the Silver Network (EIA-422, single/multi-mode fiber, or the sensor cables themselves), polled from both ends for redundant paths, with internal alarm queuing if connectivity drops. Network Manager conveys alarms to Senstar Symphony VMS, StarNet 2 SMS or third-party systems via a free SDK. NPSA-approved for UK government use; typical applications include airport perimeters, borders, military bases and correctional facilities.
