SM 60 Monitor
High-output roof monitor delivering up to 6,000 L/min at 100 m range, purpose-built for rapid agent application on large-frame aircraft fires.
The SM 60 is SIDES' top-tier firefighting monitor, designed as an integral component of their Sentinel 6x6 and 8x8 ARFF platforms. It combines high flow throughput with precise remote control to meet the agent discharge rates demanded by ICAO Category 7–10 airports serving wide-body and very large aircraft.
The monitor is offered in five discrete flow-rate configurations — 2,000, 3,000, 3,800, 4,500, and 6,000 L/min — each matched to a corresponding throw range from 65 m up to 100 m. This graduated selection lets fleet operators size the monitor to the ICAO category of the served airport without over-specifying. All variants produce an air-aspirated foam pattern with an expansion ratio of 6:1 when used with AFFF, meeting the agent-application rates set out in NFPA 414 and EN 1846.
Control is via electric joystick with 340° rotation and +70°/–20° vertical arc, driven by a compact plug-and-play CAN-bus electronics package that integrates directly with the vehicle's S-CONTROL panel. Lifetime-lubricated bearings eliminate a routine maintenance task that is easily deferred under high-tempo operations. Corrosion-resistant fluid-contact materials and an aluminium housing are suited to humid coastal ramp environments, including the salt-laden air common across Gulf airports.
For a procurement engineer specifying a replacement or upgrade monitor, the SM 60 is the correct specification where the required discharge rate exceeds what the smaller SM 30 can sustain, particularly on 6x6 and 8x8 chassis with pumps capable of 7,000+ L/min output.

Use cases.
- ›Primary roof turret on Sentinel 6x6 and 8x8 ARFF vehicles at ICAO Category 7–10 airports
- ›Monitor upgrade or replacement on existing ARFF chassis requiring higher discharge rates
- ›Wide-body aircraft hull-penetrating foam application during runway incursions
- ›Industrial airside fire protection at cargo ramps and fuel farms requiring high-volume water/foam delivery
- ›Remote-controlled agent discharge without exposing crew to fuselage fire zones
