TUG Endurance
A CE-certified lithium-electric baggage tractor with GM/PCS battery technology and up to 6,000 lb drawbar pull.
The TUG Endurance is Textron's flagship zero-emission baggage tractor, built around a lithium-ion powertrain developed with General Motors and Powertrain Control Solutions (PCS). It replaces lead-acid chemistry with a high-voltage lithium system that delivers faster charging, a longer duty cycle between charges, and continuous battery health telemetry — addressing the three operational constraints that have historically held electric tractors back from replacing diesel in high-utilisation ramp environments.
Drawbar pull is rated at up to 6,000 lb (2,722 kg), covering the majority of loaded baggage-train configurations on narrowbody and regional aircraft. The unit is offered in cab-forward and cab-aft configurations, matching different operator visibility preferences and fleet-standardisation requirements. CE certification makes it directly usable at European airports and at Gulf facilities aligning procurement to European standards.
Charging uses the J1772 connector (compatible with Level 2 AC and DC fast-charge infrastructure), and regenerative braking recovers energy during deceleration to extend operational range. The Battery Management System continuously monitors for ground faults, cell disconnections, and thermal events, designed to disable the vehicle safely if a fault is detected. For airports running sustainability programmes or operating in low-emission ground-movement zones, the Endurance provides a credentialled, production-grade electric alternative with automotive-derived safety standards rather than adapted industrial-battery architecture.
