The TPX-200-E is TLD's heavy-duty electric towbarless tractor designed for pushback and repositioning of aircraft up to 250 tonnes MTOW. It handles the core of any international hub's wide-body fleet: the full Airbus A320 family, A300/A310, Boeing 737 and 757, and 767, making it the single tractor a mixed narrowbody/widebody operator would most commonly deploy at gates serving that combination of types. The 250-tonne ceiling does not reach A380 or fully-loaded B777, placing the TPX-200-E clearly as the mid-tier widebody option in TLD's range — with the TPX-200-MTX-E serving the full widebody spectrum above it.

Propulsion is provided by TLD's iBS Li-Ion battery system, eliminating fuel, exhaust, and the combustion maintenance overhead of diesel alternatives. The chassis uses a two-wheel-steer, two-wheel-drive (2WS/2WD) layout that TLD regards as optimal for total cost of ownership — reducing the number of driven and steered components relative to all-wheel variants while still yielding the manoeuvrability needed on tight aprons. The most distinctive structural feature is the central articulation between the front and rear chassis sections: this pivot prevents jack-knifing during capture and release — a failure mode on older towbarless designs that can damage the nose landing gear.

The loading and unloading cycle is fully automated and failsafe — the operator initiates capture and the machine's control system completes and verifies engagement before allowing traction power. An optional elevating cab is available for aircraft types with elevated nose-gear positions such as the EMB190, B727, and underbelly maintenance operations. The driver sits centred directly over the NLG, maximising situational awareness during approach.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Pushback of mixed narrow- and mid-widebody fleets (A320 family, B737/757/767, A300/A310)
  • International hub gates handling high-cycle narrow-body and occasional widebody turns
  • Zero-emission ramp operations under airport sustainability mandates
  • Aprons where simplified maintenance (2WS/2WD) is a priority over maximum-MTOW range
  • Repositioning and hangar towing of aircraft up to 250 t
