EchoGuard
Backpack-portable K-band ESA radar for short-range drone detection, ground surveillance, and perimeter security.
EchoGuard is Echodyne's compact electronically scanned array (ESA) ground radar, built on the company's patented MESA (metamaterials electronically scanned array) architecture. In a unit small enough to hold in one hand and light enough for a single operator to carry — full kit including tripod and batteries under 25 kg — it delivers real-time 3D tracking across a 120° azimuth by 80° elevation field of view, scanning thousands of pencil-thin beams across that volume in milliseconds.
The radar targets short-range counter-UAS and ground surveillance missions. Typical solid-track performance reaches approximately 1 km against small drone-class targets and around 3.5 km against vehicle-sized objects. An on-board AI/ML classifier sorts detections into human, vehicle, drone, and additional categories in real time. Up to 20 objects of interest are tracked simultaneously with angular accuracy better than 1° azimuth and 1.5° elevation and range accuracy under 3.25 m.
For a procurement engineer, EchoGuard sits at the ultra-portable end of Echodyne's ground-based product range — the right choice when rapid deployment, low logistics burden, or austere-site operation matters more than extended range. Up to four units can mesh via EchoWare software, sharing tracks over Gigabit Ethernet for seamless handoff. BB2590 battery operation gives approximately six hours of autonomous field use; solar charging is supported. All-weather, all-light performance makes it viable in dust, fog, and the high-ambient-temperature conditions common across GCC airfields and critical infrastructure sites. Commercially exportable under ECCN 6A008.e.
