EchoShield
Medium-range cognitive 4D Ku-band radar for large-area counter-UAS, base protection, and critical infrastructure surveillance.
EchoShield is Echodyne's medium-range, software-defined cognitive radar — a step up in both capability and coverage from EchoGuard and positioned as the company's most capable ground-based platform for comprehensive site protection. It operates in the Ku-band (15.4–16.6 GHz) and delivers 4D situational awareness: azimuth, elevation, range, and Doppler velocity simultaneously, across a 130° azimuth by 90° elevation field of regard. Tracking performance against drone-class threats is class-leading for its form factor. Typical solid-track ranges span approximately 2.7–4.8 km for Group 1 UAS, 4.8–6.4 km for Group 2, and 6.4–11.4 km for Group 3 targets. The system can maintain consistent 10 Hz update rates across hundreds of simultaneously tracked objects — up to approximately 1,000 — making it viable for dense, multi-threat environments where cheaper sensors saturate. Angular accuracy is 0.5° in both azimuth and elevation; range accuracy is 0.75–6 m waveform-dependent. The 'cognitive' designation is operationally significant: EchoShield adapts its waveform and beam allocation in real time based on the threat picture, optimising the attention given to high-priority tracks. On-the-move (OTM) capability — supported by a dedicated kinematics port for INS integration — allows vehicle or vessel mounting without performance degradation. Multiple EchoShield units mesh into a single common operating picture via EchoWare. For large airport complexes, air base perimeters, seaport aprons, and data-centre campuses requiring 360° coverage out to several kilometres, EchoShield provides the detection layer that feeds downstream effector and response systems. Commercially exportable under ECCN 6A008.e.

Use cases.
- ›Wide-area airspace surveillance and counter-UAS layering at major international airports and air bases
- ›360° perimeter protection for large critical infrastructure: refineries, LNG terminals, power stations, and data centres
- ›Vehicle- or vessel-mounted ISR and force protection for mobile military or coast-guard platforms
- ›Integration as the sensor layer within a multi-domain C-UAS kill chain alongside RF jammers and directed-energy effectors
- ›Border and sovereign airspace monitoring requiring simultaneous tracking of high target counts
- ›Redundant mesh coverage where multiple units create overlapping zones of assured detection
