Flexnet Gateway
Dual-radio base station and repeater linking Flexnet sensor fields to C2 over 10-15 km long-range or 3G/4G/Satcom backhaul.
The Flexnet Gateway is the hub of a deployed Flexnet UGS network: all sensor information is collected and stored in the Gateway, which can be configured in three modes - base station, repeater (acting as a relay) or mobile base. It carries two radios: a 0.5 W short-range radio that communicates with all deployed sensors and cameras in the mesh network within a 1 km range, and a 10 W long-range radio that relays sensor data and imagery at distances of up to 15 km between Gateways. An extended communication range can be achieved by deploying several Gateways in repeater mode, daisy-chaining sensor fields across wide areas back to the command post without infrastructure. For beyond-line-of-sight backhaul, the Gateway connects via USB to a backbone network and is compatible with 3G/4G modems, satellite communication and TCP/IP networks, allowing remote monitoring and control of a sensor field from anywhere. It can be deployed as an autonomous base without a computer connected to the network, storing data from deployed UGS for later retrieval - the system can operate unattended for months. All communication is AES-256 encrypted, with data storage and silent-mode capacity, anti-tamper functionality and GPS self-localisation. The built-in battery gives 30 days of operation, and external batteries, solar panels or fuel cells can extend deployments further. The unit measures 115 x 82 x 170 mm, weighs 3.2 kg, operates from -32 to +71 degrees C and is qualified to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461. Applications include base-station duty for airport and border sensor fields and long-range relay chains in expeditionary deployments.
