The Jetway Glass/Truss Boarding Bridge is an apron drive passenger boarding bridge built around an exposed steel truss structural frame with floor-to-ceiling glass wall panels. The design replaces the conventional sheet-metal tunnel skin with glazed sections, giving the walkway an open, light-filled feel while retaining the full structural integrity of welded steel construction certified to AWS D1.1 standards.

In operational terms this is a full-size commercial PBB for domestic and international gates at primary terminals. It covers the standard service envelope from narrowbody narrowbodies (B737, A320 family) through widebody twinjets (B777, A350, A330) and can be specified in two-tunnel or three-tunnel configurations for longer reaches. Upper and lower deck docking options are available, making it suitable at Code E and Code F gates where wide-body and double-deck aircraft mix.

Procurement teams choose the Glass/Truss variant when terminal architecture or airport brand identity demands a premium interior aesthetic — typically in new-build or significant refurbishment programmes at international hub terminals. The visual transparency is a differentiator against corrugated-steel alternatives; structurally the two share the same core Jetway platform, including Apron Drive for maximum gate flexibility across an evolving aircraft mix.

For GCC airports, the glass tunnel performs particularly well in air-conditioned pier environments where interior climate management is already engineered at the terminal level. The canopy and closure system is designed to minimise heat ingress at the aircraft seal, supporting the preconditioned air (PCA) integration that is standard practice at Gulf hub gates. With more than 7,000 Jetway bridges installed at over 140 airports worldwide, the platform carries a mature support and parts ecosystem.
