Sherpa 4x4 / 6x6
Modular, commercial-chassis ARFF vehicle carrying proven SIDES firefighting systems for airports from Category 3 through Category 10.
The Sherpa range is SIDES' answer to airports that need certified ARFF capability without the cost of a fully bespoke dedicated chassis. Both the 4x4 and 6x6 are built on proven commercial truck platforms — Renault, MAN, Mercedes, or Scania — with SIDES' own high-performance centrifugal pump, automatic proportioning system, and SM-series turret mounted as a complete firefighting module on the chassis.
The Sherpa 4x4 carries up to 6,000 L of water and up to 250 kg of dry powder, with the SIDES SB 10.6000 pump delivering up to 4,500 L/min at 10 bar through the SM 30 monitor (3,000 L/min, 65 m). At a maximum of 20 tonnes it is compact enough for smaller airfields, commuter airports, and heliports. The 6x6 scales up to 10,000 L of water, with the same pump configured to 6,000 L/min at 10 bar and the SM 60 monitor outputting up to 5,000 L/min at 85 m range. Both variants exceed ICAO 0–80 km/h acceleration requirements and top out at 115 km/h.
Key structural features shared across the range include a roof rated to 250 kg (two-person standing load) with anti-skid surface for overfire access, vehicle self-protection sprays (two forward and four axle-side), and a 30 m pivoting hose reel with dual-flow nozzle. The cab delivers up to four seats and houses an operating dashboard usable from inside the cab — reducing the two-firefighter minimum for basic pump-and-roll operations.
For smaller GCC regional airports, FBO facilities, and military airbases, the Sherpa offers a lower capital outlay than a dedicated ARFF chassis while retaining the same SIDES pump and foam systems used in the Sentinel platform.

Use cases.
- ›Primary ARFF cover at ICAO Category 3–7 airports, commuter terminals, and general aviation aerodromes
- ›Second-string or duty-standby appliance at larger airports supplementing a heavy ARFF fleet
- ›Military and defence airbase ARFF where commercial chassis spares support simplifies in-theatre logistics
- ›FBO and private terminal fire cover at airports with limited fleet budgets
- ›Replacement vehicle for aging ARFF units where a full bespoke-chassis investment is not justified
