The TPX-100-E positions itself precisely at the top of the single-aisle market: TLD rates it for pushback of any aircraft up to 100 tonnes MTOW, which covers the full breadth of regional jets from the SAAB 2000 through the CRJ family and Embraer E-Jets up to the Boeing 757 — the heaviest narrowbody routinely encountered on commercial ramps. The 100-tonne ceiling also covers MD-80 and DC-9 family variants that remain in service across Middle Eastern and charter operators.

The drivetrain uses two asynchronous traction motors controlled through 2,650 A inverters, with current regeneration on the front driving wheels that recovers braking energy back into the iBS battery bank. Operators can specify either iBS Li-Ion packs (two or three 22 kWh units, 80 VDC) or traditional lead-acid batteries (775 Ah, 80 VDC), giving a choice between lower purchase cost or superior energy density and cycle life. The rear axle steers up to 55° via hydrostatic actuation, yielding a tight turning envelope suited to congested aprons. Parking brakes are integrated into the electric motors and operate on loss of current — a failsafe arrangement that engages automatically rather than requiring a positive driver action.

For safety-critical capture, the system includes an over-torque warning device and automated loading/unloading cycle monitoring, both standard. The ergonomic centred cab includes air conditioning, de-icing windscreens, a Webasto heater, and a colour operational display. Remote-control capability is an available option. The TPX-100-E is operationally deployed at major European hubs including Gatwick, where its single-person pushback mode has been validated in high-cycle service.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Pushback of narrow-body single-aisle fleet from regional jets to Boeing 757 / MD-80
  • High-cycle mainline hub operations requiring fast, single-operator pushback capability
  • Airports transitioning to all-electric GSE fleets while retaining lead-acid battery option for capital cost management
  • Ramps with congested taxiway geometry benefiting from the 55° rear steering angle
  • Zero-emission pushback on airports with tight apron emission limits
