The ZP210 is ZIM's entry-level slim-line economy recliner, built around a Crystal Flex fixed-seat structure that eliminates the mechanical complexity of conventional reclining frames. The design philosophy centres on reducing part count dramatically — modern ZIM economy seats carry a fraction of the 1,000-plus components typical of legacy economy products — using magnesium and titanium alloys to shave weight while maintaining CS-25/FAR-25 structural margins. As a 210-series product, the ZP210 targets carriers that want the lowest possible operating weight and maximum cabin density on short-to-medium-haul narrowbody and widebody routes. Its slender backrest profile frees visual, knee, and shin space at standard pitch settings, making the occupied cabin feel more open than its dimensions imply. Standard equipment includes an integrated headrest, fixed single-sheet tray table, upper literature storage with coat hooks and glasses holder, and a secured life jacket pocket; a PRM-accessible aisle-side armrest is built in. The ZP210 sits at the more austere end of ZIM's economy range — the right choice when a carrier's primary driver is cost per seat and maximum aircraft utilisation rather than a differentiated product experience. Optional additions such as USB power, a four-way adjustable headrest, sliding tray table, and a mesh or fabric lower literature bag let operators dial in the comfort level without redesigning the base structure. Precline default positioning allows a modest recline angle without encroaching on the rear passenger's space, a useful attribute on dense regional networks including GCC intra-Gulf short-haul operations where turnaround speed and seat density dominate the procurement brief.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Short-to-medium-haul narrowbody densification (A320 family, B737 family)
  • Low-cost carrier cabin refreshes prioritising cost per seat and weight reduction
  • Regional widebody high-density economy decks where seat count drives unit economics
  • Fleet-wide refits requiring a proven, low-part-count structure for maintenance simplicity
  • GCC intra-Gulf routes where fast turnaround and seat density take precedence over product differentiation
