The Daikin Navigator WWV is a water-cooled screw chiller engineered around a single-screw compressor with proprietary Variable Volume Ratio (VVR) technology. Rather than operating at a fixed compression ratio, the VVR mechanism continuously adjusts to match actual system lift — the difference between chilled-water supply temperature and condenser water return — ensuring near-optimal efficiency whether the building load is 10% or 100% of design. The unit ships standard with an integrated variable-frequency drive on the compressor, eliminating the need for a separate VFD panel and simplifying electrical installation.

The Navigator WWV targets central plant applications that cannot tolerate cooling interruptions: mission-critical facilities, data centres, large healthcare campuses, and densely occupied terminal buildings. Its RapidRestore technology re-establishes cooling within 35 seconds of a power event and returns to full-load capacity in under 160 seconds — a meaningful differentiator in 24/7 airport operations where a chiller trip during peak passenger throughput carries direct operational cost. A factory heat-recovery option (TWV Templifier configuration) can produce condenser-side hot water to 140°F, enabling simultaneous chilling and domestic hot-water heating from a single refrigeration circuit.

The current production variant uses R-513A refrigerant, which carries roughly half the global warming potential of R-134a while remaining a near-drop-in for plant designs previously sized around HFC-134a. For GCC central-plant teams managing F-gas audit obligations under Abu Dhabi or UAE environmental regulations, the lower-GWP refrigerant simplifies future compliance reporting. The chiller integrates with any BAS via BACnet, LonWorks, or Modbus through the MicroTech controller.

Best for

Use cases.

  • Central chilled-water plant cooling for large airport terminal buildings
  • Mission-critical and data-centre facilities requiring sub-60-second cooling restoration
  • Healthcare campuses and process-cooling loads needing stable leaving-water temperature
  • Heat recovery plants where simultaneous chilling and domestic hot-water generation reduces energy cost
  • Retrofit into R-134a plant designs requiring a lower-GWP drop-in replacement
