YORK YVWH-200 Water-to-Water Variable-Speed Dual-Screw Heat Pump
Industry-first screw heat pump delivering up to 176°F hot water and 200 TR simultaneous chilling using ultra-low-GWP R-1234ze refrigerant.
The YORK YVWH-200 is a water-to-water, dual variable-speed screw heat pump that produces high-temperature hot water while simultaneously delivering chilled water — a combination previously requiring separate boiler and chiller infrastructure. Its headline capability is hot-water output of up to 176°F (80°C), which Johnson Controls describes as the first screw heat pump to reach that temperature, driven by dual semi-hermetic screw compressors with direct variable-speed drives.
At its rated condition the YVWH-200 delivers 4,050 MBH (~1,186 kW) of heating alongside 200 TR of cooling at 41°F chilled water. It operates in three modes — heating only, cooling only, or simultaneous — giving plant operators flexibility to shift between heat-dominant and cooling-dominant seasons without system reconfiguration. Turndown to 25% of design-heating load via VSD allows efficient operation across the full seasonal range.
The unit uses R-1234ze refrigerant with a GWP of 1, making it compliant with European F-gas regulations and aligned with sustainability standards being adopted across GCC green-building frameworks. Johnson Controls' published efficiency claim is three times more efficient than a typical boiler and four times more efficient than combined traditional boiler-and-chiller operation. For airport hotels, gate lounges with significant domestic hot-water demand, or terminal operators committed to cutting gas consumption, the YVWH-200 provides a single electrically driven unit that eliminates gas boiler infrastructure.
