RaySense is RBtec's AI-driven distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) platform for long fence perimeters. A standard single-mode fiber optic cable attached to the fence becomes a continuous sensor: the controller uses a Coherent Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (COTDR) to monitor light backscattered along the fiber, detecting the vibrations that cutting, climbing or breaching transmit through the fence fabric. Deep-learning detection-by-classification algorithms — with distinct algorithm sets for fence-mounted and buried applications, so a single hybrid run can cover both — optimise sensitivity and probability of detection. The AI runs fully offline, with no monthly fee, cloud dependency or hidden costs. One processing unit senses 1-100 km (up to 62 miles) of fiber, up to 50 km (31 miles) in a straight-line configuration, and RBtec positions the system for perimeters of 3 km (1.9 miles) and above. Intrusions are pinpointed to 3 m (10 ft) between detection points over the entire perimeter, simultaneous disturbances a minimum of 40 m (130 ft) apart are reported individually, and detection survives sabotage: the controller still detects to within 10 m (30 ft) of a cable cut — on both sides of the cut in a redundant loop configuration. Detection zones are software-configurable sensor sections whose parameters can be adjusted by location to avoid nuisance alarms, and because the fiber is passive, no power or electronics are needed anywhere in the field. The 1- or 2-channel controller is a 19-inch 2U rack unit (49 x 50 x 8.9 cm, 8 kg) on 110-240 VAC auto-ranging power, drawing 85 W typical / 125 W maximum, with two FC/APC single-mode optical connectors, USB2 and 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Integration is via TCP/IP, relay closures through connected PLC or ADAM modules, and a Web 2.0 interface for IP-based remote control and monitoring. Laser safety is Class 1 (IEC 60825-1, 21CFR1040.10) with a key-switch shutoff on the front panel; design and manufacturing are ISO 9001 accredited and CE certified against the EMC (2014/30/EU) and Low Voltage (2014/35/EU) directives, and operating life exceeds 10 years. Warranty is 2 years with optional per-year extensions. RBtec's application set for RaySense spans airports, solar and energy plants, oil & gas facilities and rail — multi-kilometre fence lines where per-metre localisation and low lifetime cost decide the tender.
