Seismo is RBtec's unattended ground sensor (UGS) system: strings of buried geophone sensing units that detect the seismic vibrations of footsteps or vehicle movement above ground. Each sensor's signal is processed in real time by an AI-based detection algorithm that classifies the activity as steps or vehicle before triggering an alarm at the configured sensitivity level — and the system is tuned to pick up only security-related vibrations, so it does not respond to earthquakes. A unique machine-learning algorithm continuously and automatically calibrates to environmental influences, keeping the false alarm rate at an absolute minimum. Because the detectors sit underground, the system is invisible to intruders, does not change the appearance of the protected area, and can be neither bypassed nor sabotaged. A system comprises 4 or 8 sensing units pre-installed on a cable at 6-10 m (20-32 ft) spacing plus an analyzer, each geophone providing a circular 360-degree detection pattern up to 10 m (33 ft) in diameter, for coverage of up to 80 m (250 ft) per system in line or square layouts. Sensitivity and detection are set and registered per sensor, making the system flexible enough to adapt to different environments, and the included software provides intuitive calibration and operation from a Windows PC (Ethernet is needed for configuration only). Unlike leaky-coax RF alternatives, the Seismo seismic detectors work in any ground without preparation or special conditions — resistant to extreme weather and temperature swings, with no interference from vegetation or strong winds, across a wide variety of terrains. The IP68 sensors operate from -30°C to +70°C. The analyzer runs on 12-48 VDC (500 mA at 12 V) and outputs via N.O./N.C. dry-contact relays for silent operation and long operating life, integrating with any existing security system, burglar alarm or CCTV; standalone and IP network versions are available, plus optional wireless connectivity. RBtec lists residential homes, wooded areas and beachfront, golf courses, entry/exit routes, perimeter blind spots, approach detection, open areas with no traffic, and farms as ideal deployments — a natural complement to fence sensors on routes and blind spots where no fence exists.
