
APCY-E Air-Cooled Screw Chiller
Aluminium microchannel-condenser screw chiller spanning 78–438 TR, designed for compact plant rooms where footprint and first cost matter.
The APCY-E replaces the conventional copper-tube condenser coil with aluminium microchannel heat exchangers (MCHE) as standard, making it the most compact and lightest chiller in SKM's air-cooled screw range at equivalent capacity. Aluminium MCHE coils carry significantly more surface area per unit volume than round-tube equivalents, which improves condenser heat rejection at elevated ambient temperatures while keeping the unit footprint smaller — an advantage where plant-room rooftop space is constrained or structural loading is a concern.
The series runs on R-134a and covers 78 to 438 TR (274–1,540 kW), bridging smaller medium-commercial applications up into large central-plant territory. The semi-hermetic screw compressor uses stepless capacity modulation, and a full-function microprocessor controller with electronic expansion valve governs refrigerant flow and superheat across the range. Operating ambient is rated to 52 °C, standard for Gulf deployment. Certified under AHRI 550/590 and 551/591, with ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and 45001:2018.
The APCY-E is the practical choice for new buildings and refurbishments where procurement specifies AHRI-certified chillers, weight and footprint must be minimised, and budget is tighter than for the premium APCY-P variant. It also suits phased plant room builds where two smaller APCY-E units cover redundancy requirements without the footprint of a single large screw chiller. GCC relevance is strong: MCHE coils handle desert dustiness comparably to copper-tube coils and can be ordered with corrosion-protective coatings for coastal sites.
