HMAH Hygienic Air Handling Unit

The HMAH is SKM's hygienic modular air handling unit, built to the requirements of VDI 6022 and DIN 1946 — the German and European standards that define hygienic design, construction, and maintenance access for ventilation plant serving sensitive environments. Certification by TÜV SÜD means the unit's internal surfaces, drain pan geometry, access door positioning, and casing construction have been independently verified against those requirements, not simply declared conformant by the manufacturer.

Twenty-one frame sizes cover nominal airflow from 1,000 to 42,500 CFM (472 to 20,058 l/s) against a maximum static pressure of 2,000 Pa (8.0 in WG). The modular construction allows sections to be configured in almost any sequence — supply, return, heat recovery, cooling, heating, humidification, filtration — and the unit can be shipped in sections for assembly on site where access restricts delivery of factory-assembled plant. SKM's broader MAH range holds EN 1886 and EN 13053 certification (European AHU casing and classification standards) and AHRI 430 certification; the HMAH extends from this platform with the addition of hygienic-standard design features.

The primary application set is spaces where HVAC-borne contamination risk directly affects a regulated or sensitive process: hospital operating theatres and intensive care areas, pharmaceutical clean rooms, food processing lines, laboratory buildings, and electronics production. In the airport context, the HMAH is directly applicable to airside medical facilities, airport health screening areas, and any terminal zone subject to regulatory air-quality requirements. The VDI 6022 / DIN 1946 certification provides documented evidence for infection-control audits and regulatory inspections.
