Quiet, mid-range air-cooled scroll chiller rated 140–230 tons with R-454B refrigerant, optimised for part-load efficiency and noise-sensitive installations.
The Ascend ACS sits in the mid-tier of Trane's air-cooled range, using scroll compressors with intermediate discharge valves (IDV) that allow each scroll to unload incrementally rather than cycling on/off. This IDV design improves part-load efficiency and reduces the compressor cycling that causes noise spikes — the ACS offers optional acoustic packages rated as low as 95 dBA, making it appropriate for noise-sensitive siting adjacent to office buildings, hotels, or airside gate lounges. The unit operates on R-454B, a next-generation low-GWP refrigerant.
Capacity runs from 140–230 tons, positioning the ACS as the step-up from the smaller CGAM (≤130 tons) before reaching the helical-rotary territory of the Sintesis RTAF (≥115 tons in overlap, but higher efficiency at scale). For facilities needing a single mid-size unit or a small bank of units — a domestic-terminal building, a medium-sized MRO support facility, a ground-handling operations centre — the ACS provides a cost-effective, low-noise solution without the capital cost of a screw or centrifugal plant.
Operating map supports chilled-fluid production from 0 °F to 68 °F across ambient from -20 °F to 125 °F (-29 to +52 °C), suitable for year-round GCC operation. Optional integrated heat recovery produces water up to 140 °F (60 °C) for domestic-hot-water or process-heat applications. Optional thermal battery storage integration and integrated pump packages simplify plant layout. Symbio 800 handles BACnet/Modbus/LonTalk integration.
